Fascinating research going on over on the west coast.
BJ Fogg’s work focuses on determining, and articulating, the factors integral to behavior modification; exploring the relationship between ability, motivation, triggers, and behavior types. Through his research in Persuasive Technology, Fogg has also made strides towards establishing a clearer mapping of behavior by creating delineation between different types of actions/habits.
This manner of analysis creates a framework for approaching behavior, allowing user interface/interaction designers to more appropriately develop and test the effectiveness of their products goal (Lifestyle modification, Health tracking, etc.).
